MISC. INFO

Many characters in Blake's bio belong to my partner, Vendetta!

Some of Blake's werewolf lore is inspired by the World of Darkness (WoD) TTRPG, whilst others are simply pulled from popular media and general perception. That said, she is not a technical part of any fandom, but could easily appear in other universes with mythical beings (particularly, werewolves). In a Werewolf: The Apocalypse universe, Blake would be a born-wolf and likely part of the Galestalker Tribe.

Despite her impressive size, Blake is really on the smaller-end in terms of size among fully-matured werewolves. This is due to several factors, such as her general build and the fact she did not obtain her status innately/have the ability to nurture her inner beast.

Unlike most werewolves, due to her nature as a homid lycan, Blake's taste for flesh is reduced and not a necessary part of her survival. However, she still does receive the urge to partake in the activity and as such may find herself selectively hunting. She tends to focus on hunting those she knows have harmed others.

Blake does maintain some of the healing and damage-resistance of werewolves, though hers works in a reduced manner. She falls more easily, like a human, but she can maintain a stable state for longer depending on if she's hunted recently or not.

Blake is a pagan who worships Gaia, the Greek personification of the Earth.

Blake doesn’t fully shift often. It’s painful, disorienting, and hard to control. That said, if she knows she has the security and time, she'll wander the words in her true form and spend the rest of the day/next few recovering.

The scars on her neck pulse faintly in moonlight. They’re not just wounds, they’re a brand of the rogue pack that made her. And sometimes, she swears she can feel them itch. Like they’re calling her to something or attempting to get her attention.

BACKGROUND.

Blake grew up in Lewiston, Montana — a tight-knit but quietly hostile town where queer identities were whispered about, and guns were family heirlooms. Her father, Zac, was a retired Army ranger, and her mother, Tessa, was a nurse who died of cancer when Blake was 16. She learned to shoot before she learned to drive, and the general culture of the town meant that survivalist training was an easily accessible interest. Much of her later teen years were spent watching training videos and helping community prepper groups. She came out as trans at 19 and supported by her family, but not her community.

For a while, after graduating high school, she survived through odd jobs on account many folk wouldn't hire "the town freak". Any little bit helped, and often this meant she would be taking cash under the table or only saving enough to put away into savings with nothing more. Her father helped her bolster her savings with retirement money where he could, but with her younger sisters growing up with lives of their own, the support had to be split fairly heavily.

One day, while doing some work at a local farming supply store, members of a new, non-local survivalist collective approached for aid. Upon helping them find what they were looking for, the members praised Blake for her knowledge and asked if she was involved in their field. She disclosed that she was until she'd come out (though she didn't specify as what to the strangers). The members felt sorry for her and mentioned that their group was very queer friendly and “accepting of all walks of life.” They gave her their information before leaving, and upon sitting on the decision, Blake decided to check them out.

After the initial vetting process, she was welcomed in with open arms. And her whole world was shaken, as not only were there humans among the rank and file, but mythics. Individuals of various non-human backgrounds—though in this case primarily canid and lycan in nature. Blake learned a lot in the months she spent with them, traveling between their commune and her family home to keep in touch with family and use some of the money she was getting from work among this new community to repay her father.

However, the joy wouldn't last long.

One moonlit night, under the hazy glow of the new moon, people Blake had once considered close friends ambushed her. Their intentions were not expected—not just to humiliate her, but to turn her. They were werewolves, part of an old, fractured pack that believed transmutation was a form of societal purification—a way to get back at humanity for the Mythic Wars and ensure their futures were protected even amidst times of peace. Blake was not the only human chosen that night... but she was the only one that survived the process. Even then, she was barely breathing when she crawled into the forest, bleeding and delirious, to make her escape.

This would become her first transformation, and it was a brutally painful and hungry one.

Without giving details on what happened, Blake would use a payphone to call her father and tell him that she couldn't stay in Montana anymore. She needed to leave, and she needed him to know that she loved him and her sisters more than he could ever imagine. When he suggested filing a police report, or at the very least coming home, she declined and said it was too dangerous. Reluctantly, he obliged, but he told her that no matter where it was she found herself next, that he would be there for her.

She thanked him, hung up, and sobbed until she couldn't keep herself awake anymore. The next morning, she fled the state.

Her travels led her to mostly remote areas of the states, with Blake being too afraid to linger in larger cities in case she couldn't control herself. Even as she found that she could, she feared having so many eyes on her would result in that old pack learning of her surivival. At some point, she found herself wandering a new stretch of woods in her werewolf form, and would find herself confronted by a pair of unusually friendly wolves. The leader amidst them would introduce himself as Asriel Winters, and would offer to bring her to his pack to show that they didn't mean her any harm.

Begrudgingly, she accepted, and the rest was history.

Blake would find herself a rather involved member of the pack, once they'd gained her trust and she realized that they really didn't mean her any harm at all. In fact, they saved her. Asriel saved her. He taught her to better control the changes that came with shifting, and helped her learn how to sustain herself and truly survive those initial years as a fledgling. In turn, she would help the pack's members better defend themselves in human form, offering close quarters combat and firearms training to the more vulnerable amidst the bunch.

Upon seeing how comfortable she was with them, and in having his own appreciation for her, Asriel would officially offer her a place among the pack and—notably—official membership in their biker gang. Blake would happily accept, and would take on the role of a true protector. In addition to the services she'd already offered, she would aid in official patrols and take the frontlines during any clashes with those disapproving of their lifestyle... Including that of the local police force and their leader, Asriel's father Rocky.

Known for his corruption and his own anti-human sentiments, Rocky would learn of Blake and make it a point to make an example out of her. As he's done with many others, including his own son, he would utilize the privileges given to him and his department to conduct sabatoge where he could; make life a little less worth living. Convinient traffic stops, rough searches, unlawful seizures, the whole nine yards. And considering there was nobody else to report it to, Blake would have to "suck it up", especially given her status as a Black trans woman added extra fuel to the flames. Thankfully, she wasn't alone this time, and had The Pack backing her up.

Asriel would help by pointing her to two trusted contacts as a starting point—Detective Rayn Wilder and the Takamura sisters.

The latter of those would offer her a steady, part-time gig as club security. The flexibility of the position meant she could spotlight at other nightclubs in the city, and the notoriety of Club Takamura would get her some rather valuable favors should she need them. Her only request would be that they take a portion of her wages and send them back to her father, and to let him know that she was safe. In addition to this, they would help cover the funds for her to start up a true self-defense program.

It was through this that Blake would meet the former contact. Detective Wilder's reputation preceded her. She offered services that were community-driven and actually focused on stopping crime; her former work under the red tape of Rocky's command played into this too, but it gave her quite the advantage. Case in point, the land for Blake's self-defense initiative would share the streets with the Wilder Detective Agency. The pair, alongside the Takamura sisters, worked out the details to reclaim abandoned warehouse space into a fully-functioning operation. The restoration was done in consideration to the Agency's operations, primarily where the live-in victims and families were concerned. Wanting to avoid any potential problems in triggering these individuals, they made sure the warehouse was soundproofed and that the services provided would not cause outward trouble.

And upon completion, the Iron Paws Collective was born.

Established as a a trans-led, trans-centered self-defense network, Blake would offer a plethora of services to the local community regardless of enrollee identity. These services would include: Free monthly firearm training (with a focus on small frame, discreet carry and de-escalation; also offered is liscensure upon request), situational awareness workshops, trauma-informed defense tactics, survivalist 101 courses, and lycan-specific defense training.
