MISC. INFO
Darya has a strained relationship with her sisters, due to them being taken by her mother in their parents’ divorce. She speaks to Serafina on a semi-regular basis, but does not get along with Elsfir.
BACKGROUND.
Darya was born and raised in Ozyorsk, known to most as the infamous City 40, a town seemingly left behind by the government. Access in and out of the city is limited, requiring one to go through a checkpoint and arrange their arrivals and departure beforehand due to the city’s history (as the town was the birthplace of the Soviet nuclear weapons program after World War 2).
Darya’s family split while she was young, her staying in the city with her father while her mother and two sisters left the city and made a life of their own in another part of Russia. Contact was cut between the sides of the family. As she grew up alongside her father, Darya became a well-educated woman. She attended the Ozyorsk Engineering Institute post-high school, and had attended the specialized secondary school to learn the English language.
Darya followed in her father’s footsteps, taking a heavy interest in nuclear science and pursuing a career with the Mayak Production Association. The plant, Mayak, is a facility for processing nuclear waste and recycling nuclear material from decommissioned nuclear weapons. Additionally, Mayak is the home of two functioning reactors, known as Russlan and Lyudmila, which are chiefly involved in the production of various isotopes, but they also maintain a tritium production capability. Darya is one of few scientists that gets to leave the city and travel abroad on meetings with government officials, and she has earned a small name for herself due to her accomplishments. During these meetings, Darya presents experimental information on radioisotopes and MOX fuel production.
