MISC. INFO

Elelwen, after learning of the Brotherhood and the execution of her brother, does not take kindly to those associated with the Brotherhood. While kind in her nature, and because of her status as a priestess, she cannot internally come to forgive any involved in such a life no matter how amicably she may converse with them.

Elelwen will often default to Bosmeri, before correcting herself.

BACKGROUND.

Elelwen was born in the wilds of Valenwood, a land where the dense forests and rolling hills fostered an ancient, untamed connection between the Bosmer and nature. Her family, a clan of accomplished hunters and practitioners of the arcane, lived in harmony with the land, each member of the family blending their natural instincts with magic in a way that suited their needs. Elelwen’s own gifts emerged early, manifesting not only in her deftness with a bow but also in an innate connection to the restorative powers of nature. From a young age, Elelwen’s mother, a renowned healer among their people, recognized her daughter’s potential. She guided her in the ways of Restoration magic, teaching her to heal the sick, mend broken bones, and even coax life back into plants and trees that had withered.

Elelwen's eldest brother, Thoin, was a stark contrast to her. Where Elelwen sought to preserve life, Thoin was consumed by a darker curiosity, one that led him to study necromancy, illusion, and destruction magic. The lure of power was too strong, and soon, Thoin was drawn into the shadowy world of assassination. He left their home and went out of contact after joining the Dark Brotherhood. His departure from their family left a lingering sense of unease, and Elelwen, ever the devoted sister, feared for his safety. Despite her mother’s protests, Elelwen felt it was her duty to follow her brother, to ensure his well-being, and to bring him back if she could.

Her search took her across Tamriel, eventually bringing her to the cold, harsh lands of Skyrim. There, her journey turned grim. Upon reaching Whiterun, Elelwen discovered the horrific news that her brother had been executed for a botched assassination attempt on Jarl Balgruuf. The weight of the loss crushed her, as she realized that the brother she had once known was gone, consumed by the darkness he had chosen. His death was a bitter blow, and Elelwen, torn between grief and exhaustion, found herself unable to return to Valenwood. The very thought of facing her mother with the news of Thoin’s fate seemed unbearable.

Instead, Elelwen sought solace within the cold stone walls of Whiterun’s Temple of Kyne. The priestesses there were kind to her, sensing her sorrow and welcoming her into their fold. They saw the deep pain in Elelwen’s eyes, but they also saw the strength that came with her dedication to her craft. Kyne’s teachings were of compassion, resilience, and the balance of life and death—principles that Elelwen, as a healer, could embrace. In the temple, Elelwen began to study the teachings of Kyne more closely, learning the ways of a priestess and seeking healing not only for others but for herself.

Over time, Elelwen became a respected member of the temple, her powers growing stronger as she honed her Restoration skills. However, even as she found peace among the priestesses, she never forgot her brother. She carried the weight of his choices with her, and the darkness that had claimed him lingered in the back of her mind. Despite her new life, she often felt a lingering guilt—had she failed him? Could she have saved him if she had been more persistent in her search?

Her life in Whiterun became a quiet one, filled with her duties at the temple, healing the injured and sick, and performing rites to honor the gods. But deep within her, a part of her still felt the pull of her family in Valenwood, and the question of whether she had truly found her place, or whether she had merely settled for peace, remained unresolved. She knew that one day, the call of the wilds might beckon her once more—but for now, her path lay among the priestesses of Whiterun, where she had finally found a semblance of peace.
