MISC. INFO

Powers:

After discovering the first of the Starborn Temples, Evie gradually unlocks the ability to harness the powers of the universe. These powers are dependent on several factors, such as if they've visited their associated Temples, or if they have enough energy. Given these powers don't have natural debuffs or consequences beyond the consumption of energy, I've categorized them in terms of low, medium, and high energy cost. The more costly or otherwise dangerous powers are unlikely to be used outside of life or death scenarios. Their favorite powers/most used ones will have a symbol next to them.

Low Cost (10)

✧ Earthbound — Change the gravity around you to Earth gravity levels for a duration.

Grav Dash — Manipulate gravity to propel yourself forward, and briefly increase any damage you inflict.

Partical Beam — Shoot a beam of pure particle energy that deals high amount of damage to enemies in front of you.

✧ Sense Star Stuff — Bind yourself to the particles of creation, sensing the life force of any human, alien, or Starborn.

Medium Cost (20-30)

Alien Reanimation — Resurrects a dead alien to fight alongside you for a duration.

Create Vacuum — Gut the O2 supply of targets in the area for a duration.

Creator's Peace — Pacifies all enemies in an area and disarms them for a duration.

Elemental Pull — Blasts inorganic resources in an area around you and pulls them towards you.

Eternal Harvest — Regrows flora that has been harvested in a large area around you.

✧ Gravity Wave — Launches a gravity wave in a cone ahead of you that staggers and knocks down enemies.

Inner Demon — Force an enemy to confront their inner demons, creating a mirror image of themselves that attacks them.

Life Forced — Drain the life force out of a living being and transfer it to yourself.

Moon Form — Become as strong as stone, rooting yourself in place and increasing your resistance to all damages greatly.

Precognition — Look into the multiverse and visualize the future actions of actors, conversational and otherwise.

✧ Reactive Shield — Envelop yourself in a metastable shell of antimatter that reflects projectiles and increases your resistance to attacks.

Solar Flare — Emit an intense burst of solar energy that damages enemies and can set them ablaze.

Sunless Space — Shoot a ball of ice as cold as space into an area, freezing any living being caught in the blast for a duration.

High Cost (40)

Anti-Gravity Field — Generate a localized field of intense low gravity, and behold a planet's true power.

Gravity Well — Create an area of dense gravity that pulls in and crushes everything and everyone in around it.

✧ Parallel Self — Summon another version of you from an alternate dimension for a duration.

✧ Personal Atmosphere — Oxygen, pure and clean, brought forth to breathe deep and counteract harmful carbon dioxide.

Phased Time — Phase through the normal flow of time and slow down the universe for a duration.

Supernova — Explode with the power of a supernova in an area around you, dealing massive damage.

Void Form — Warp the light around you, becoming nearly invisible for a duration.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Evie's total bounty, as of the events of Starfield, is 1,630,000 credits. This is a headcanon adjustment from the canonical value, as 16,300 seemed too low for the type of work they did.

The Volii System is approximately 33.175 LY from the Sol System. A grav-jump reduces this distance to approximately 16 LY.

Evie has partial androgen insensitivity syndrome (PAIS), which is an intersex condition. Evie's presentation of PAIS is resulted in them having an underdeveloped phallus (which they opted to preserve via phallus preserving vaginoplasty) with subcoronal hyposadias (urethra opening on the underside of the phallus tip), bilateral gynecomastia (natural breast tissue development deemed "problematic" for individuals assigned male at birth), and an overall "lessened" puberty (for a lack of better wording). The poverty they grew up in is the sole reason their parents did not force them under corrective medical intervention.

Evie's identity as an intersex transfem has led to some challenging times, especially so where medical care is concerned. As such, much of her transition has been DIY or otherwise self-driven. She does not, nor ever has, had a diagnosis for HRT. Her vaginoplasty was done under the counter, using privileges and connections from her work with Ryujin. To this day, she's still friendly with the Enhance! doctors who helped her out.

Fun non-Evie fact, Phoebe Hart (voice claim) is also intersex with AIS! Granted, she's on the opposite side of the spectrum as Evie and has a different form of AIS.

Evie's autism manifests with the following traits: difficulty deciphering their own & other's emotions, semi-blunt affect (emotes but less than most neurotypical individuals), audio processing disorder, "unusual" eating (eating the same, select foods) and sleeping (lack of tired signals until reaching point of exhaustion, not adhering to traditional cicadian rhythm) habits, adherence to certain and specific routines to maintain regulation, and presence of obsessive interests.

BACKGROUND.

Evie was born and raised under the grimy lights of Neon, a notorious hub for sleazy businesses and unchecked crime situated at the center of the Volii system. Their home was a cramped, converted wearhouse inside Neon's Ebbside district. For the vast majority of their life, the only gang operating in Ebbside were the Ebbside Strikers, who only killed or mugged when absolutely necessary. Unlike the criminal corporate above in the main district, the Strikers considered the whole of Ebbside as their family, and would go to any lengths to protect each other. Naturally, this inspired Evie to join formally. They stuck mostly to delivery jobs, helping people get fresh food and resources from the shipments the Strikers would contract in.

However, as they grew older, the rise of a new gang—the Disciples—turned Ebbside from community to chaos. They were approached one day by Digger Zemin, who said Briggs needed to speak to them immediately. Despite their long standing, Briggs needed to know he could trust Evie. As such, he offered them a test of loyalty: Infiltrate the Disciples and find out who's supplying them with military grade hardware. Evie would do just that, too. They would infiltrate Warehouse 2 and sneakily grab the data slate, return the information to Briggs, and then be sent to hack three street signs to reemphasize that Ebbside belongs to the Strikers. Once done, Briggs decides that they should strike while the Disciples attempt to regain control. Sure enough, Evie partakes in their first gunfight alongside Briggs, and they push the Disciples leadership out of Ebbside.

With things relatively back to normal, Evie resumes community work and eventually lands a paying job at Xenofresh Fisheries. Things go smoothly, with shifts being simple and lackluster. That is, until whispers of a coworker—Neshar—being arrested for attempting to smuggle Aurora from the city circulate. Against their better judgment, Evie investigates.

They head to Neon Security to find Neshar. locked in a cell. When speaking to him, they learn that it's true that he was smuggling Aurora, and that he was doing it to pay off debts to Yannick Legrande at Legrande's Liquors. He tells Evie that he has another package in his Sleepcrate, and that to get access he'll have to give a code to Izna Sundararaman, the owner of the Sleepcrate complex. Wanting to help Neshar out, they agree to get the package from his Sleepcrate and deliver it to Yannick, who is very suspicious of the switched delivery. As Evie goes to exit the liquor store, Yannick—quite explicitly and forecefully—recruits Evie into his smuggling operation. They know too much now, and have to make that up to him. So, they are tasked with either killing or, in his words, "getting rid of" his other employee, Felix.

Upon finding out where Felix is located, Evie is attacked by members of the Seokguh Syndicate. Amidst it all, they find a captive Felix, who they tell to get out of Neon if he knows what's good for him at this point. He does so, and they hed back to Yannick to report the incident. He's happy with those results, so he asks Evie to assist in replenishing his stock of Aurora from Xenofresh Fisheries. Knowing they have a job with the company already, he even throws in a bonus for "making things easier for him."

As it turns out, too, another of Evie's coworkers is in on the scheme. Robie Hennigar processes the Aurora made on the fishery's assembly line, and provides coordinates for the dead drops necessary to pick up and deliver the drug to Yannick. The first few batches are made without a hitch, though it's not long before Yannick's joy catches the attention of Neon security. During their last delivery, Neon security guards hold Yannick at gunpoint and quickly turn on them as they enter the store. Behind them, Benjamin Bayu, the defacto mayor of Neon, enters and confronts the duo on their illegal production and sale (as the only approved Aurora vendor is the Astral Lounge). Thankfully, Yannick finally seems to have a smart head, as he manages to cut a deal—Bayu pretends he knows nothing of their operation, and he gets 20% of the profits. That, and he decides to let Evie go scot-free, although he can't help them getting fired from Xenofresh.

Due to their relationship with the Strikers, Evie manages to quickly find re-employment at Madame Sauvage's Place as a bouncer. They spend most of their early adulthood working for the Strikes and Madame Sauvage, and even get a reference from Yannick himself for a position bouncing at the Astral Lounge. It’s during this job that the credits begin rolling in, and for once, Evie doesn’t feel like they’re stuck in the slums. They buy their very own ship, the HWSS Golden Wattle, a Narcissus Model Class B starship.

This is especially the case when a member of Ryujin Industries takes a particular shining to them, insisting that they send in an application at one of their kiosks.

Evie does so, hardly expecting to pass once they divulge the fact they don’t have any corporate experience and their history with criminal activity, but to their surprise, they do hear something a few days later. Upon arriving at the Ryujin Industries building, they’re directed upstairs to be interviewed by Imogene Salzo. The interview goes over without a hitch, mostly as Imogene is tired of the process and just wants the position filled. As such, Evie is hired and now works the two jobs simultaneously. And their first task for Ryujin Industries?

Fetching an order of coffee from Terrabrew.

They go to the local Terrabrew to retrieve the order, and are suddenly ambushed by a distraught man with a gun. The man—a former employee named Tomo Higashi—tells Evie that he knows they’re going to kill him, so he’s going to kill them first. Confused and, frankly, terrified, they talk him down from the ledge and he rushes off without saying another word. When they return to the office, Imogene is irked that the coffee run took too long. However, she seems impressed once Evie explains what happened, and decides to promote Evie on the spot. Now a junior operative, Evie’s first task is to deliver the coffees to the four Ryujin Industries Divison Heads: Genevieve Monohan, Linden Calderi, Camden Cho, and Alexis Pryce. Once done, Imogen briefs Evie on their first real job for the corporation.

Apparently, another local company (CeltCorp) has been competing with Ryujin for a contract and tried to hack into Ryujin's R&D server. Imogene states this action must be punished, and gives Evie an unmarked data slate and two digipicks. She tells Evie they're to upload a file and run it on CeltCorp servers without anyone from CeltCorp noticing. They go to CeltCorp, sneak past security, and upload the data slate with ease. After uploading the file, they return to Imogene at Ryujin Tower and let her know how their first job went. Imogene then defines how payment works at Ryujin: if they have no "setbacks", they will receive full pay. The more setbacks they have (payoffs, cover stories, cleanup crews), the less pay they get. With these terms laid out, the next job begins.

Imogene tasks Evie with planting confidential files so that Arboron, a Ryujin subsidiary, wins a contract over Laredo. The buyer for the contract likes to keep their associations clean, so they will be sending an associate to Laredo Firearms in Akila City to undergo an inspection—these confidential files will ensure the inspection goes Ryujin's way. She hands them confidential files and sends them on their way. They travel to Akila City and go to Laredo Firearms. To ensure the plan goes off without a hitch, Evie breaks in through the back, and plants the files without hassle. Once more, Evie receives full pay and is given another job.

Imogene tasks them with obtaining a security key card from a security chief. She will tell you about a few options to obtain it: Look the part and be persuasive, or be quick with their hands. She also states that weapons are out of the picture. Ryujin needs the keycard to ensure easy access to competitor security—obtaining a legitimate form of access is sometimes preferred over brute forcing your access, after all. When asked how to approach the job, she recommends a nice suit or security guard uniform to "look the part". Thus, Evie peruses the local shops to buy their first real suit. This helps them get close to Neon security nearby the Astral Lounge, where they manage to slip the key card from the chief of security's pockets. They return to Imogene with the keycard, and she states that their sticky fingers means they're ready to "kick things up a notch."

Imogene then tasks Evie with sabotaging a deal between two rival firms, Infinity LTD and Quantum Synergies, to ensure it fails while maintaining discretion among high-level executives at the Astral Lounge. Evie is given their dossiers, and thus able to utilize their preconceived notions and positions among their respective companies to sway them into pulling out from the deal. Likewise, they use their privilege as a bouncer for the club to slip into the broker's suite and swap out the presentation for a hacked file.

Returning to Imogene at Ryujin Tower, she updates them on your performance and introduces the next objective: plant an ARC device in HopeTech, inside a spaceship under construction near Saturn. She emphasizes that this mission requires total stealth, as any traces back to Ryujin Industries could devastate the company. While it's difficult, Evie manages to succeed and heads back to Imogene, who trusts Evie to continue with these dangerous missions. She also decided that Evie needed to give Ryujin their full attention, so she pulled some strings and got them a severance package from the Astral Lounge.

Regardless of their thoughts on the matter, Imogen guides them to steal schematics for a new engine from Trident Luxury Lines Staryard orbiting Akila. According to Imogen, the engine is seventeen percent more efficient than any on the market, and Ryujin Industries needs to know why so they can keep up in the game. Once more, it's emphasized that Evie cannot be caught, so they opt to close the building's shutters and traverse through the ventilation shafts to drop down into the R&D department and steal the schematics. From there, it's another trp back to Imogen's office, where she decides another promotion is in order. As such, they head upstairs to Ularu Chen's office. Here, Evie's security level has been updated, and a meeting with Ularu is scheduled. Unlike Imogen, Ularu cuts directly to the chase and doesn't give any introductions.

The task is simple: Evie must meet an informant, Simon Ryczek, on Cydonia. They're given nothing more than a vague description and passphrase, in which they use to exchange information on a deal between Infinity LTD and Deimos Staryards is named "Project Dominion," a stolen Ryujin Industries project. Due to the data breach, Ularu and Evie meet with the company's CEO, Masako, and let her know of the discovery. They determine that there's a mole with high level security clearance, and instruct Evie to meet with Dalton Fiennes, the security chief.

Dalton tells Evie that "Directive Theta" has been enacted, initiating investigations of all employees, including top executives, with the sole exception of Ularu Chen, who will be examined by independent hacker named Nyx. He tells Evie they must meet Nyx at Madame Sauvage's Place, where he will charge 2,500 credits for his program... That is, unless they feel like running his program, Rover, on Camden Cho's computer to serve as payment. Evie decides to bug Camden's computer and is given access to infiltrate Ryujin's HQ through a rooftop ventilation shaft. They navigate through various tunnels and rooms, avoiding guards and disabling nearby lighting when possible to encourage evacuation of the building. From there, they make their way to Ularu's office, where Nyx accesses a backdoor into Ularu's computer, cracking and re-encrypting files for Dalton, naming Imogene Salzo as the prime suspect in the data leak investigation. However, he warns that the evidence may be fabricated. Upon delivery of the data slate, Dalton reads the files, concluding Imogene is responsible but stating that he wants to question her directly. After instructing Evie to escort her from her office, they find her missing. Yuko Serrano informs them she's been last seen at Frankie's Grab & Go, a Seokguh Syndicate front, and suggests they seek executive sign-off before pursuing her.

Having enough of this, Evie bypassses Yuko's suggestion for executive sign-off and heads there alone, where an encounter with Franchesca Moore quickly escalates as she pulls a gun on them, demanding their exit. Through this, they learn that Imogene is inside, but Frankie insists on no disturbances. Evie persuades Frankie that this is a matter that goes way over her head, and she begrudgingly lets Evie through. Inside, they fight through numerous Syndicate members and find Imogene hiding in the back room.

They confront Imogene, who reveals that Nyx alerted her about the investigation, enabling her escape. She claims Ularu set her up as a double agent, acting under orders to mislead Infinity LTD rather than assist them. Imogene states she has no motive for her actions, asserting she learned about Project Dominion while defending herself against false accusations. She argues that Ularu implanted an internal neuroamp to control her actions, explaining her recent bouts of disorientation as a result of this manipulation. Imogene insists Ularu chose her as the "fall guy" for her skills in executing the plan believably. Over the years, Imogene has gathered evidence of Ularu's guilt, including accessing deleted security records that Nyx's investigation overlooked. Realizing that Dalton wanted to question her anyway, having his own doubts, Evie takes the data slate proving Ularu's guilt and tells Imogene to stay hidden while they navigate the aftermath.

Returning to Ryujin Tower, Evie presents the evidence to Dalton. The revelation prompts Dalton to direct Evie to R&D to speak with Veena Kalra. Of course, Masako catches wind and reprimands them for protocol violations during the investigation, which in turn upset Benjamin Bayu due to his ties with the Seokguh Syndicate. As such, they're tasked with resolving this issue by eliminating a competitor’s operative.

This operative is Tomo Higashi, who Evie reassures that no harm will come to him. They slide him a couple thousand credits and tell him to keep low, thanking him for showing mercy on them. When they return to the offices, they report that Tomo is dead, and all is settled with regard to Bayu. However, there's bad news: Dalton confirms Ularu as the mole, and states that he has a plan to expose her attempts to frame Imogene. This plan, however, requires getting information from Infinity LTD's HQ. As such, Dalton decides Evie can be trusted to learn about Ryujin's neuroamp project.

Of course, the caveat is they learn about this project because they're going to be the next recipient. They undergo the surgery, and come out unharmed and ready to infiltrate Infinity's HQ. They head to the building, reaching the rooftop coordinates and dropping in through the vents. They decide that, to avoid civilian casualty should things go south, to manipulate the building's heating system to force an evacuation. With the building clear, they break into Lucas's office and run the program to download the evidence needed to prove Ularu's guilt. They then make their way to R&D, where they wipe evidence of the project and steal the neuroamp prototype. Once they escape, Evie returns back with the evidence and forwards it to David Barron at SSNN to sabatoge Infinity LTD's stocks enough for Masako to sweep in and buy the company.

Masako strongly advises Evie get the board members on board with the idea of developing the Neruoamp for mass production, but they refuse and get everyone to agree that destroying the project in its entirety is the better option for humanity. This displeases Masako, but she respects the opinions of her coworkers and thus, things at Ryujin Industries are settled... Mostly.

While Bayu was willing to let Ryujin Industries get away with the assault of his Syndicate, he wasn't willing to let Evie themselves get away with it. This, on top of prior infractions and the bounties accumulating from other corporations, inspires him to make his move. He decides to get "tough on crime" in Neon, and makes an example out of Evie by placing a 1,630,000 credit bounty on their head. He also gives them exactly one hour to vacate the planet, lest they want to be strung out across the street.

Dumbfounded by this ultimatum, Evie curses Bayu out and flees the planet, spending their days running from bounty hunters and taking up odd jobs to make ends meet (re: maintaining their ship long enough to survive the cascades of hunters on their tail). Eventually, they take up cargo hauling, and make a few contacts that allows them to jump into an equally traversal and mundane job—Mining with Argos Extractors.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

It is now May of the year 2330, twenty years after the Colony War. Humanity has left Earth behind and spread among the stars, colonizing a small pocket of the galaxy known as the Settled Systems. Here, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective enjoy an uneasy peace. However, the pioneering spirit that drove the initial diaspora has long since faded, and exploration efforts beyond known space have dwindled. Yet, when Evie unknowingly stumbles across a seemingly alien artifact and experiences visions of the unknown, they will set forth a chain of events that fuels that long forgotten spirit and asks a question that has plagued humanity since its creation: what is out there?

Evie is now a space miner working for the company Argos Extractors, stationed on their Vectera outpost. Under the guidance of Supervisor Lin, they—alongside a man named Heller—have been commissioned by the enigmatic Constellation to locate an Artifact with strange gravitational effects buried underground. After extracting this Artifact, Evie experiences a vision propelling them through time and space. They wake up in the mining facility’s medical bay, having to undergo a brief examination to check for head trauma. Once cleared, they learn that their client is en route to collect the Artifact.

Shortly after meeting the client—Amundsen Barrett and his robotic sidekick, Vasco—they are ambushed by Crimson Fleet Pirates. After the battle is over, Barret asks Evie to join him to visit Constellation in New Atlantis, the capital of the United Colonies. He also hands them a device resembling a wristwatch, allowing them to scan nearby objects in the environment. As a parting gift, and to ensure the safe delivery of the Artifact, he lends them his ship, the Frontier, and control over Vasco.

Upon arriving, Evie arrives at the Lodge—Constellation’s base of operations—and is introduced to many of its members. They also present the Artifact to Sarah, who explains their mission in piecing together the Armillary to learn what the significance of these Artifacts is. From there, Evie officially joins Constellation as a member in their quest to locate more of the Artifacts, believing them to be one of the greatest mysteries left for humanity to uncover.

Their first mission, after recovering another Artifact under Sarah’s guidance, was to meet and/or recover the remaining members of Constellation: Sam Coe and his daughter, Cora, Vladimir Sall, and—of course—Amundsen Barrett, who found himself in the sights of the Crimson Fleet once more. After uniting the remaining members of Constellation and collecting several more Artifacts, Evie is directed to investigate an anomaly that corresponds with the presence of an Artifact, but is significantly stronger. There, they uncover an ancient temple and activate it, which gives them the ability to use seemingly supernatural powers. This first ability is to generate a localized field of intense low gravity, and behold a planet’s true power.

Later, they join Constellation’s benefactor and fellow member Walter Stroud in his efforts to obtain an Artifact from the pleasure city of Neon. After retrieving the Artifact, an unknown and unrecognizable entity accosts them, simply calling itself “Starborn”. The Starborn demands the Artifact, but Constellation refuses to hand it over and are, thankfully, able to escape.

Constellation’s mission to collect the Artifacts continues, spurred on by the competition they now face from the Starborn. To increase their scanning range and locate more Artifacts, Evie must help fix The Eye, Constellation’s satellite in orbit. During this mission, Evie receives word that Constellation’s Lodge is under attack from a Starborn. Panicked, Evie heads down to check on those at the Lodge. They see that the members are scrambling to pack up the Artifacts and evacuate. As Evie starts to help, Sarah calls out that The Eye is now also under attack from a Starborn. It is here that Evie is faced with a decision—remain and help barricade the Lodge, or head back to The Eye and make sure everyone’s okay. Knowing that Cora was up there with her father, Evie tells Sarah that they’ll be heading back up and that they’ll see each other after. The two promise one another to stay safe and go their separate ways.

Evie makes it to The Eye to find everyone alive, but severely wounded. They do their best to render stabilizing medical aid, and bring Constellation’s members down from orbit so they can help defend the Lodge. Unfortunately, by the time they make it back, it’s too late. The Starborn have attacked and left everyone wounded. Moreover, Sam Cole rushes ahead to find Sarah dying. Evie joins her side and tries to render medical aid. Sarah passes away in their arms, leaving Evie bitter and in disarray. There is no time to grieve, though, as another Starborn appears and attacks, declaring himself “The Hunter”. He states that they will not leave with the Artifacts, and chase Constellation’s members throughout the city and into orbit. As they survive the escape, The Hunter expresses surprise at their resilience and allows them to leave, promising that they will meet again.

Later that week, Constellation holds a funeral for Sarah.

While Constellation copes with the loss, Evie decides to put a pause on hunting down the Artifacts. Instead, they opt to travel the systems and just “exist” for a while, hopping between odd jobs and collecting biological and territorial data to bolster Constellation’s databases. They grow closer to the remnant Constellation crew, helping their companions begin to make sense of the messes in their own lives and make the best of what they have. They help Barrett begin the investigation into his late husband, Erving’s treatment by Hephaestus Mining Corporation. They help Sam and Cora reunite with her mother, Lillian Hart, and begin to repair the family’s relationship with one another. And they get closer with Andreja, helping her attempt making amends with the smugglers she once considered friends, and finding out the truth about the ambush that changed her life forever.

At some point, this work has Evie cross paths with the United Colonies System Defense and Vanguard units.

Their first task is to connect with various UC SysDef operatives. More specifically, Evie is tasked with meeting Crew Chief Herath. The Chief tells them that their first job for SysDef is tracking the location of Hadrian Sanon and investigating the lack of contact with a settlement colony on Tau Ceti II.

Evie receives a repair kit destined for Tau Ceti II along with a standard Vanguard equipment package. Armed and provisioned, they set course for the Tau Ceti Gourmet Production Center, expecting little more than a routine delivery and minor communications issues.

Instead, they arrive at a scene of devastation. Destroyed turrets litter the landing area, deep claw marks scar the facility’s walls, and distant screams echo through the complex. Following the screams, Evie finds Hadrian Sanon, a survivor barricaded inside the station. Hadrian reveals that a Terrormorph has attacked the facility. To track the creature, Evie ventures deeper into the complex, restoring access to the station’s systems and reactivating livestock sensors. Once Evie tunes the sensors to the correct frequency, the Terrormorph emerges from hiding. After a fierce battle, the creature was slain, and a tissue sample is recovered from its remains.

Yet, the sample raises troubling questions. Hadrian lacks the equipment needed to analyze it and asks that it be delivered to Dr. Percival Walker on Mars. She also provides her genetag, evidence of her identity and authority, should anyone question the importance of the mission.

Returning to New Atlantis, Evie reports the incident to Commander Tuala. The genetag reveals a startling truth to both of them: Hadrian once led the United Colonies’ Xenoweapons Division during the Colony War before being dismissed from service. Though suspicious, Tuala authorizes the investigation and formally welcomes Evie into the UC’s forces.

The next stop is Cydonia, the primary colony on Mars, where Percival Walker has vanished beneath a mountain of debt. In the Sixth Circle bar, bartender Lou Saavedra explains that Percival has been hiding from creditors. By manipulating the records behind it, Evie clears the doctor’s name and gains access to his secret refuge within the abandoned Red Devils headquarters. There, Percival analyzes the Terrormorph tissue and confirms Hadrian’s fears. The sample contains markers linked to Londinion, the site of the worst Terrormorph disaster in human history.

Reunited in the Sixth Circle, Hadrian and Percival begin piecing together the mystery. Their investigation points toward sealed records hidden within the Armistice Archives, but gaining access will require approval from the governments of the United Colonies, the Freestar Collective, and House Va’ruun.

As the request moves through political channels, Hadrian reveals a deeply personal secret to Evie: she is a clone of the infamous UC commander and declared war criminal Vae Victis, created as part of an effort to preserve military leadership for future generations. They shelf this conversation as they return to the Cabinet to discuss the resurrection of the Xenoweapons project.

Before the Cabinet can decide the matter, disaster strikes. Terrormorphs suddenly attack New Atlantis. Citizens descend into violent madness under the influence of alien pheromones, and chaos spreads through the city. Fighting alongside UC forces, Evie helps contain the outbreak and destroys the attacking creatures. In recognition of these efforts, the Cabinet grants access to the archives and reinstates Hadrian’s military rank.

To unlock the archives, Evie must gather authorization codes from the Freestar and Va’ruun ambassadors. One code is won through diplomacy; the other requires navigating the abandoned and dangerous Va’ruun Embassy, where its mysterious ambassador remains hidden among malfunctioning defenses. With all three codes secured, the Armistice Archives finally open.

Inside lies a vast collection of classified Terrormorph research. Yet before Evie and Deputy MacIntyre can fully examine the information, Deputy MacIntyre escorts Evie to a hidden section of MAST. There waits a man believed dead for decades: François Sanon, better known as Vae Victis. The war criminal reveals that he has secretly continued investigating the Terrormorph threat from confinement. He directs Evie toward surviving members of Hadrian’s former research team, beginning with a military robot named Kaiser. Following a trail through Niira’s scrapyards and battlefields, Evie discovers the ancient war machine buried within the wreckage of a crashed vessel and infested with Heatleeches. After restoring Kaiser to operation, they assist him in completing one final mission to eliminate a dangerous xenoweapon known as Unit 99.

With Kaiser recovered, the reunited team turns its attention to the source of the mystery: Londinion itself.

Accompanied by Hadrian, Percival, and Kaiser, Evie ventures into the ruined city on Toliman II. Deep beneath its frozen streets, they uncover evidence connecting the Terrormorph threat to a strange organism called Lazarus. More importantly, they discover how Terrormorphs spread and evolve: the Heatleeches are baby Terrormorphs, and exposure to the planet’s native Lazarus plants accelerates their evolutionary process. Along the way, they battle increasingly dangerous specimens, culminating in a confrontation with a powerful alpha Terrormorph whose tissue sample provides the final piece of the puzzle.

All evidence collected points toward an unsettling truth: Vae Victis has been manipulating events from the shadows. He was responsible for the Terrormorph attack on New Atlantis, being the only individual who knew about the conenction between the Heatleeches and Terrormorphs. When confronted, he offers justifications and even proposes another scapegoat. Ultimately, Evie must decide whether to expose him, what to do with the dangerous Lazarus plant, and how humanity should combat the Terrormorph menace.

Choosing transparency, Evie reveals Vae Victis’ involvement and status to the Cabinet. The Lazarus plant is ordered destroyed, and attention turns toward reviving the long-extinct Aceles species, natural predators of Terrormorphs. After the crisis finally subsided and the truth emerged, Evie received a promotion to Class One Citizen, which earned them the United Colonies’ gratitude and a position as one of their most trusted defenders.

Thanks to their work containing the Terrormorph threat, Evie was subsequently contacted by UC SysDef and urged to meet with Commander Kibwe Ikande on the UC Vigilance. Once they arrive, he briegs them about their mission—to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet and pose as one of their Pirates. Naturally, Evie has several questions, of which many go unanswered. Put bluntly, with one major problem out of the way, UC forces want to fix the other while they still have the ability. Reluctantly, and realizing they’ve been backed into a corner with this intel, Evie gives the command to their ship’s crew to pull out and return back to The Lodge. Once they’re alone, they accept the mission. Commander Ikande outfits Evie with a ship, a container of Aurora, and directions to meet Saoirse Bowden on Cydonia.

After meeting Saoirse, Evie took on the task of meeting and dealing with a chain of smugglers, debtors, and intermediaries. This chain gradually opened the door to Fleet contacts. By the time Evie reached the target vessel, the Astraea, they had already begun constructing a convincing criminal persona. The final trial, “killing” Austin Rake by making a discreet plan with his captain to spare him, earned Evie official passage to the Key, the notorious headquarters of the Crimson Fleet.

Life among the pirates proved far more complicated than expected, though. Delgado, the Fleet’s charismatic leader, was obsessed with a legend known as Kryx’s Legacy—a fortune lost decades earlier by the Fleet’s founder, Jasper Kryx. Believing the treasure could elevate the Fleet beyond mere piracy, Delgado tasked Evie with helping uncover its location. It was either do this, or be jettisoned.

The search led first to the Lock, a ruined prison on Suvorov where Kryx had once been held. There, Evie uncovered clues hidden among the records of long-dead inmates. The trail then stretched across settled space, pulling them into galas, corporate conspiracies, and covert operations. Aboard the luxurious Siren of the Stars, Evie manipulated financiers and social elites to gain access to GalBank archives. In New Atlantis, they survived an ambush while uncovering evidence that narrowed the search for the lost treasure.

Throughout the investigation, Evie maintained the dangerous balancing act of reporting back to SysDef while preserving the trust of the Fleet. Each success deepened Delgado’s confidence in them and their ability to slip away from the chase undetected. During this time, Evie had no contact with Constellation as to not put them at risk.

As the hunt intensified, the Fleet required specialized technology to reach the Legacy. Evie infiltrated a secret military installation to steal the experimental ComSpike device, then infiltrated Generdyne Industries on Neon to acquire critical Conduction Grid technology. These operations pushed the limits of deception, drawing the attention of powerful figures such as Benjamin Bayu and forcing Evie to make increasingly difficult choices about who to trust and who to sacrifice for what—Commander Ikande emphasized—was the greater good.

At last, all clues pointed toward Bannoc IV, a gas giant shrouded in violent electromagnetic storms. Hidden within its deadly atmosphere was the Legacy itself: a derelict GalBank vessel carrying Kryx’s stolen fortune. Racing against the hostile environment and the ship’s failing systems, Evie fought through automated defenses and uncovered the truth behind Kryx’s final days. The treasure had remained untouched for decades, preserved by desperate measures that could no longer hold once the credits were extracted.

With the Legacy secured and the treasure transferred, Evie faced the decision that had been looming since the mission began. They could deliver the fortune to the Crimson Fleet and cement their place among the pirates, or honor their commitment to SysDef and bring down the organization from within.

Choosing SysDef triggered the final confrontation. The Crimson Fleet launched a desperate defense as UC forces moved against the Key. A massive battle erupted in space around the Vigilance, with Fleet ships clashing against SysDef’s armada. When the fighting ended, Evie boarded the Vigilance to witness the culmination of months of deception. Delgado and the Fleet’s remaining members were arrested, the Key fell under UC control, and the Crimson Fleet’s reign was effectively broken.

Now that it was safe to return, Evie made their way back to The Lodge and picked up the mission to secure the Artifacts once more.

Following a series of clues, Constellation track down the Hunter, who is meeting with another Starborn, called the Emissary, about Evie’s escape. Under a flag of truce, Evie reluctantly boards the Starborn ship and learns that the Starborn are not aliens, but humans from a parallel universe. The Emissary is a parallel version of Sarah, who expresses her regrets for the events that have transpired. The Emissary and the Hunter reveal that whoever is able to assemble all the Artifacts within a given universe will be able to reach “the Unity”, the center of that universe and a gateway to further parallel universes. The Starborn have been competing for the Artifacts across countless parallel universes.

Excited at the possibility of exploring parallel universes, the members of Constellation become determined to retrieve the remaining Artifacts before the Starborn. Evie travels to the ruins of Cape Canaveral, on Earth, to retrieve an Artifact. There, they learn about the Artifacts’ role in the creation of the original Grav Drive, and how its development led to the destruction of Earth’s magnetosphere. Shortly thereafter, Evie is given a choice between aiding the Hunter, aiding the Emissary, or refusing to assist either of them.

Wanting to complete the mission, and focus on those by their side, Evie works with the team to collect the remaining Artifacts not already held by the Starborn. Once completed, Evie sets the course Masada III, home of the Buried Temple, knowing deep down that this could very well be the last time they see any of their crew. To everyone’s displeasure, they charge in alone and tell them that if anything happens, they love each and every member of Constellation, and could not have asked for a better life.

Upon entering the planet’s atmosphere, The Hunter and The Emissary confront Evie, expressing displeasure in their stubborn nature. They attack, and a fierce space battle ensures. All parties end up with their ships barely functional, and the Starborn are the first to retreat into the planet’s atmosphere. Evie follows, and the battle continues on the ground. Upon landing, Evie notices that dozens of Ecliptic mercenaries have been completely annihilated and their brutalized remains paint the surroundings red. Knowing there’s no turning back, Evie presses forth. They are first confronted by Guardian Musa.He makes multiple copies of himself to fight Evie. Once he’s defeated, they are confronted by Guardian Athaliah, who raises the Ecliptic mercenaries from the dead to fight them. Thankfully, as soon as Athaliah dies, the resurrected mercenaries do as well. They collect an access card from a mercenary’s remains, and enter the nearby Ecliptic base to proceed toward the location of the Artifacts. What stops them is an anomaly, similar to those they had seen Nishina. Upon entering, they are taken back to those first moments with Lin and Heller on Vectera. They follow the path they had walked before, and step through another anomaly that brings them further into the Ecliptic base. It is here they are confronted by Guardian Teuta and his army of robots. They kill him and break into an engineering bay to dismantle the base’s security system, then move further into the base. Another anomaly appears, this time transporting Evie back to the Scow where, upon conversing with Captain Petrov, they must kill him and evade suppressive fire to tumble through the anomaly present in his private quarters.

Back at the Ecliptic base, Evie navigates through the facility and begins taking the elevator down. A rumble causes the elevator to unlatch from the cable, and sends Evie spiraling down into another anomaly. This time, though, the sights they see are much more grim. The alternate universe they enter places them back onto The Eye, though this time it is them who is killed in the Starborn assault. Vladimir holds their body, crying and mourning them as they take their final breaths. Panicked, the real Evie reaches out and startles him. They try desperately to explain the situation, but are pulled through an anomaly as the elevator in their reality crashes. It is here they see they are in the Buried Temple.

They are not given a moment of reprise as Guardian Fionn emerges from the shadows and attacks them, summoning multiple copies of Evie in attempt to distract and kill them. On top of this, Guardian Fionn disappears and reappears from this reality, making the chase even more complex. Thankfully, Evie manages to push through the worst versions of themselves and track Guardian Fionn to the temple’s entrance, where they kill him and emerge before both The Hunter and The Emissary.

The Hunter is the first to speak, chiding Evie for their decision and stating that things are the same as always—cyclic violence leading to the possession of the Artifacts. The Emissary speaks next, expressing regret that things have reached the point they have. Evie, with the weight of the universe on their shoulders and their body beginning to falter from the wounds they’ve acquired thusfar, simply says that the universe would be better off without them and their sick obsessions. The trio draw their weapons, and chase each other through the universe. They blip between The Lodge, the NASA Museum, The Well under New Atlantis, The Astral Lounge in Neon, Nishina Research Station, the Slayton Aerospace facility, and finally back to the NASA Museum where Evie kills both The Hunter and The Emissary.

Emerging victorious, Evie takes the Artifacts back to The Lodge and sits down with Constellation’s members to talk about what comes next. Initially, there’s tension. Evie had effectively gone off radar on a suicide mission, when Constellation had spent so long working together on this. However, these tensions smooth over as they explain that after the incident on The Eye, they refused to put anyone in that sort of danger again. This, and they wanted everyone together to discuss the inevitable: The Unity. Barrett, Andreja, Cora, and Sam all express willingness—with some hangups given the closeness of the crew—to enter Unity and see what awaits them next. Matteo, Noel, Vladimir, and Walter state that they will remain in this universe for reasons of their own, though ultimately align with the goal of continuing to operate Constellation and inform Humanity of this great discovery. Unfortunately, Vasco simply cannot go, as he is uncertain that inorganic life such as himself would even be embraced by The Unity, statistically speaking.

With business concluded, Evie and crew jump to Unity, where they are separated and remain alone in the endless black sea. Before them is the portal, alongside a parallel version of themselves. This parallel version explains that by entering the Unity, they will become Starborn. However, the cost of becoming Starborn is leaving their native universe behind forever, and entering another completely deprived of their possessions and relationships. They are also shown the consequences of their decisions, and how their universe will fare without them.

Ultimately, Evie decides to return to their universe and live out their life for the time being, forfeiting the power of the Starborn and simply choosing to exist as themselves.
