BACKGROUND.

Fran grew up surrounded by Sublight and its mercenary groups. Her mother helped run the local bar, while her father worked as a shipment guard for SubLight. He traveled the colony with “reclaimed” goods, yet in the rare moments he had home he was one of the most influential people in Fran’s life.

Her father was the one who taught her how to defend herself and her mother, in the event something had ever happened to him. In her adolescence, Fran was one brute of a teen. And he was to thank for it. She tolerated very little from her peers, who often made fun of her for her height and more masculine interests. Rather than stand down, Fran often found herself in the midst of many brawls being held near the Fallbrook river, and afterward she would quietly sit and watch the water flowing by to ground herself.

When Françoise reached adulthood, she took up a contract with Sublight and began working as a town guard. This position bought her more opportunities to venture outside the town’s walls, and more opportunity to prove her peers wrong. While on detail with a few particular miscreants, they had begun to make comments on how Fran was too small to ever properly defend the citizens from a baby raptidon, let alone one of the alphas. Fran, against her better judgement, saw these taunts as an opportunity to prove them wrong.

So she went after a nearby raptidon pack, encouraging the others to follow if they weren’t cowards. Things were quick to go south as the alpha of the back had locked onto Françoise and pinned her to the ground. The creature tore at her, nearly killing her before the others took it down. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. Extensive trauma to the abdomen and throat had left Fran a shell of the woman she used to be. She no longer had a left eye, her torso composed of mostly scar tissue, and the damage done to her throat was irreversible and rendered her mute.

Not long after her recovery, which was around the time of her 20th birthday, Fran left Fallbrook once and for all and took up a position within Sublight that let her travel the colony to never look back.
