Max rents an apartment within the city alongside his sister, and the two reside in The Loop, one of the city’s six boroughs.
Ironically, despite her allergies to fur, Max came home one day to find that Bailey adopted a rescue cat named Laika. Laika is a grey and white tuxedo cat who has cataracts and is blind in her right eye.
He has been on HRT for approximately 6 years, and is 4 years post-op.
Born and raised in Illinois, Maxwell had a fairly average life growing up. He was raised in the suburbs, went to a decent school, and soon became an older brother when Bailey was born. The two were practically inseparable despite the four-year gap between them, and Maxwell proved to be a great role model for his sister.
When the two began secondary school, though, Bailey was the first to notice something was going on with Max. He began to grow more distant in his transition from middle to high school, he wasn’t eating as much during family meals, and he generally seemed depressed. Yet Maxwell struggled in silence, and on more than one occasion ended up in the hospital for a suicide attempt. Distraught, his parents and sister did everything they could to support Max and his recovery each time, but Max never really knew what had been wrong, often stating he just “felt wrong” or “felt like someone else”.
It wasn’t until a few evaluations had been conducted over these hospitalizations that Maxwell was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and gender incongruence, which the psychiatrist who oversaw his evaluations noted as seeming to go hand in hand. As they noted, Max had turned to eating less as attempting to prevent and reverse the effects of puberty (e.g., menstrual cycle). Max’s family was supportive of him, just as they always had been, and did their best to help him find himself and work through the transition process. Bailey was his rock during this time, and she was the one person who was by his side no matter what. Additionally, Max went and continues to go to therapy regularly to continue his recovery in terms of his E.D.
Maxwell took up numerous part-time jobs during his medical transition, and eventually fell into freelance photography after realizing he had a passion for capturing portraits and taking photos while out and about. On the side, Maxwell also works as a tutor with the ASL program at local schools.
