MISC. INFO

Jaxen Elianette Salvadora (The Angel) belongs to Vendetta!

While on duty, Naomi is only armed with a pistol.

Naomi eventually wants to pursue a formal medical education, and aspires to work in emergency medicine.

Naomi is a practicing Reform Jew, though follows many traditional customs (e.g., living with her family, attending group prayers and covering her hair when doing so, maintaining a kosher diet/lifestyle, etc.).

BACKGROUND.

Born in the heart of Night City, Naomi found an odd comfort in the blinding lights and never-ending noise. Between studies, attending services, and spending time with her family, Naomi wandered through Kabuki’s narrow, tangled alleyways taking in the sights. She made a small circle of friends among the streetkids, many of whom unfortunately came to pass in their teens due to the rough environment and gang wars between the Tyger Claws, Mox, and Maelstrom.

In her later teen years, she took up a few small jobs among the plethora of independent shops, selling everything from recycled junk and handcrafted artisan goods. During her time bouncing between places of work, Naomi would come under fire when rival gangs found themselves at wit’s end. In one such incident, Naomi had to jump into action and pull an injured shop-owner behind cover. With what limited resources were available in the nearby cabinets, Naomi was able to help stabilize the wound before bringing the woman to a nearby ripperdoc. After the harrowing incident, Naomi took some time away from the streets to figure out how she could find a way to keep herself and her family safe. It was here that she decided to pursue a career in medicine. Putting the pay and potential to relocate aside, Naomi realized that she wanted to help people. Having lost many of her childhood friends over the years, gaining the opportunity to save a life felt like a calling.

Naomi went on to gain her certifications and complete most of her training across Night City. During this time, the technician saw almost every injury and illness known to man. The violent aftereffects of gang wars. Tragic vehicle incidents. Passionate murders. Harrowing suicides. Simple illnesses. Birth. Death. She grew close to her team within these first few years, even romancing one of the security specialists, Jasveen Badesha. Blossoming as their romance was, it was short-lived after a harrowing run-in with a cyberpsycho.

One evening, Naomi’s team was sent out to retrieve a platinum-covered client after they became unresponsive and failed to assume the recovery position. Upon arriving at the scene, Naomi and the ground crew were able to enter the homeless encampment under the Hargreaves Street bridge and find their client sprawled atop a plethora of corpses. In the moments the pair of medical technicians paused to assess the situation and grab their client, shots rang out. Two automated turrets revealed themselves and took out the leading technician on scene, Anya Skye Maliit Arboleda, leaving Naomi and the others to scamper behind cover. Unable to hack into the turrets, the team took a tactical approach in trying to advance and take out the cyberpsycho on scene, Tamara Cosby. Jasveen and the other security specialist, Imua Nopera, pushed forward and gave Naomi an opportunity to sneak around the encampment and toward the client. As she did so, one of the turrets caught her heat signature and began firing at the concrete barrier she’d dived behind. Jasveen left her position alongside Imua and began to make her way to a vantage point, hoping to be able to take out the turret’s computing systems and to clear a better path. In the process. Tamara was able to breach the teams’ protocol and take full control of Jasveen’s cybernetics. She disabled the specialist’s cyberware, reducing her combat efficacy, before uploading a daemon which caused Jasveen to turn her weapon on herself. Terrified by the event, Naomi risked herself by running out of cover to retrieve her partner’s body. Imua moved and covered her, setting the duo’s progress back to the outer skirt of the encampment. Naomi called for evac, hoping the AV could get a clear shot under the bridge to take out the cyberpsycho and turrets. As the pilots attempted the maneuver, Imua and Naomi continued laying fire on Tamara, hoping to disarm her and keep her from being able to execute any hacks. Successful as the attempt was, the most the duo could do without air support was keep her conscious distracted and hope Naomi could get to the client. Hesitant to attempt the maneuver again, the duo kept their formation tight as they moved from cover to cover. Naomi was eventually able to grab the client and check vitals, but it was too late. They’d succumbed during the firefight with the cause of death being overheating, meaning that at some point, Tamara had realized the client was still alive and overheated their body with a quickhack. Naomi radioed in for them to evacuate without the body, yet received no response, as the netrunner had managed to take out Imua. Now alone, Naomi made a desperate break for the evac AV, which was taking damage from the security turrets without the ability to get a clear shot and disable them. The remnants of the team pulled back and fled the scene, though crashed later on due to the extensive damage. Naomi was the sole survivor of the crash, with the pilots suffering heavy internal bleeding. Naomi was extracted by a nearby group of officers and transported to the hospital, where she would awake to a group of Trauma Team’s representatives waiting to receive their report and hand her an official termination from duty.

For months after the incident, Naomi received counseling from Trauma Team’s psychology division. Physiological testing was conducted to measure the physical effects of the trauma, and to neutralize/counteract these processes in an attempt to get her back to duty quicker.

After being cleared for duty once again, Naomi was assigned to shadow a skilled EMT known to many as “The Angel”. Naomi and this angel, named Jaxen, worked together on many cases throughout Night City. With most patients being the victims of local Scavs. Seeing Jaxen in action, and realizing there was more that she could do to help others beyond following the agency’s command, only further inspired Naomi to continue her career in medicine. One standout incident involved someone flat-lining for over five minutes. Hesitant to continue the administration of aid, Naomi saw Jaxen’s determination and stayed with her while other docs gave up. Jax ultimately revived them with a MaxDoc, adrenaline, and six minutes of continuous CPR. Through their work, the two formed a formidable bond and, upon establishing her own practice, Jaxen offered Naomi an internship at her office whilst Naomi began preparing herself to go to medical school and specialize her practice. Now, many can find Naomi throughout Night City accompanying Jaxen on the AV4 or assisting in the Angel’s clinic.
