BACKGROUND.

Nikki Marino was born and raised in Matera, Italy, to a large family of Greek and Italian siblings. Being born in Matera was a blessing and a curse, beautiful architecture and scenery, but not many opportunities for work or building a true career. During her childhood, a lot of her spare time was spent between the beaches and taking Flamenco classes. It was a dream of her mother to have her daughters become star dancers within the nation, and out of the family, Nikki was the gifted of her sisters. Flamenco became an escape for her during her teen years, between the pressure her mother put on her shoulders and the lack of worldly experiences that the small town offered her. So Nikki moved across the seas to America in search of better career opportunities. She found herself in Liberty City, the epicenter of cultural mixing and “the American Dream”.

Unfortunately for Nikki, things were not all they had seemed.

Being a first-generation immigrant proved difficult, with many of America’s native residents turning people like her away for being “too different”. The boroughs of Liberty City became cultural centers, various neighborhoods consisting of their respective prominent nationalities. Nikki found herself in Algonquin, and it was not long before she ended up falling into the grasp of the Five Families for career opportunities. After all, being a dancer with such a lucrative background would not get her far in America. For that, she would need to learn a whole other skill set. While scouting for jobs, she met Harry Hall, a notable member of the Messina Crime Family, and took up a job in prostitution upon promises of protection and steady cash flow. With the protection of the Family, and the lucrative clients the Family serviced, she quickly made a comfortable living for herself among the city’s flashing lights. Working with the Family for a few years has opened up many opportunities for Nikki, her services available both in the Opium Nights Hotel and various street corners, and she now uses her status to lure those who are enemies of the family in to be executed by the guards and disposed of as deemed necessary. She also uses her status in the streets as a woman of the night to garner information that may harm or benefit the Family, reporting back to her superiors and on occasion sitting in at sit-downs to share what she has learned and collected first hand.

The Family, and particularly Harry Hall, has taught her how to handle herself in most situations. Between firing a gun and keeping her silence, Nikki would rather face legal vengeance than become an informant for law enforcement.
