Qamar is a Spotted Donkey! Spotted Donkeys are a breed of domestic donkey characterized by their unique coat pattern, and can come in a range of sizes. They are also known for their friendly, sociable nature and their calm, even temperament. As such, they are often bred by humans for a variety of tasks.

A note about naming conventions: Qamar's name uses traditional Somali naming conventions, meaning that they do not have a surname, but instead use their grandfather's name. The father's name is usually the second (middle) name, and the paternal grandfather's name is the third (last) name.

Qamar has a blunted affect, which results in diminished facial expressions, limited vocal expression, and generally lower energy levels. They may come across as disinterested in conversation, but that is usually not the case (as they would express if they were).

Qamar also hypersensitivity to fluorescent lighting and loud, overlapping noises. These are the two things guaranteed to cause sensory overload for them. To counteract this, especially in professional/public environments, Qamar often wears tinted glasses and ear plugs.

BACKGROUND.

Born in the sprawling town of Woodbury, Minnesota, Qamar lived a fairly quiet life alongside her family, which at the time included her paternal grandparents, her parents, and her siblings. The quaint neighborhood they lived in was home to both human and myths alike, with little tension coming between the various families. Of course, things had changed as political tensions across the nation rose, and ultimately broiled over into the Mythic War. Qamar's family, among the others within their neighborhood, were put under scrutinizing pressure as anti-myth rhetoric rose, though thankfully the state was forgiving enough to denounce the rhetoric and place protections over its myth residents. Still, with their father joining ranks and their grandparents now focused on establishing reliable community aid, Qamar couldn't help feeling outcasted and confused, as they were too young to fully grasp the severity of the situation.

As they grew up, and the war waged on, Qamar joined their grandparents in providing the local myth community aid. They began to see the violent tendrils of injustice reaching into day-to-day life and linger, even as the war eventually came to an "end", with official treaties simply placing a blanket over the depths of the situation. Despite this, Qamar did well to build themselves up and pursue the means to continue the communal work their grandparents established after they'd passed. Their parents funded their bachelor's degree, and encouraged them to pursue whatever education that they'd seen fit, which inspired them to pursue formal education in applied psychology. They became licensed with the state, to her human peers' dismay, and spent much of their program as an understudy for local counseling offices. Once cleared to practice, and upon saving extra, they began their own establishment.

Qamar is now the owner of a non-profit counseling organization, Forestpoint Counseling, which focuses on providing aid to mythics like them. After realizing they didn't want to play into the humans' anti-myth desires by becoming someone's trophy spouse (a stereotyped perception of Spotted Donkeys), Qamar established the organization and continues to use their own funding, earned/accumulated through donations and hobbies, to keep the organization staffed and supplied. Often, they work with other humanitarian/community groups to provide resources to their clients.
