Flotsam belongs to Vendetta!
Roman is unaware that he has a sister, though he has heard rumors of a peculiar female assassin operating in the same areas as him.
Due to Alexey’s operation covering international waters, Roman is conversationally fluent in numerous languages, including French and Mandarin.
Roman Zemlin was born to an unloving set of parents, and was ultimately abandoned by the duo as they were unwilling to give up their own addictions to raise the boy. His mother left him on the doorstep of a random home and rang the doorbell, fleeing into the night to ultimately never be seen again. The duo died due to unfortunate circumstances.
Fortunately for the Roman, though, the man who had answered the door that evening took him in and raised him as his own alongside his husband.
The boy grew up with a happy and stable childhood, the only downsides coming from the discrimination and bullying he had faced in school for having two fathers. He paid it no mind initially, though, as he was happy at home and lived a good life. Another cause for trouble in the schoolyard had been the fact that Roman himself ended up dating a transfer student who had been not entirely human. The girl, named Flotsam, was a myth. She had been part axolotl, which gave her notable features such as fins and oddly colored hair. Their relationship, albeit strained, was pure and supportive. Roman’s fathers took kindly to the girl, even as she underwent her species’ natural puberty and “transitioned” into a male. Roman continued to love him, and it was via this relationship that Roman had realized he was bisexual. The duo separated suddenly as something had gone wrong with Flotsam’s family, and the two have not seen one another since.
Unfortunately, due to the addictive personality of his birth parents, Roman became addicted to alcohol in his early teens after sneaking some from his fathers’ cabinet while tending to wounds he had received during a fight at school. The torment and addiction grew worse with time, flying under the radar of his fathers until one day the trio had gotten into a fight about his delinquent behavior and Roman impulsively shot and killed the two in the midst of an argument. Realizing what he had done, Roman fled far from the suburban home, sneaking onto a cargo train in the dead of the night and trekking through the snowy tundra of Siberia until he collapsed.
The owner of the cabin had heard the thud of Roman’s body slamming against the door, quick to draw his own weapon and look around for any danger. It was then that he found the then 17-year-old collapsed and turning blue from how cold he had been. He took the teen in, raising him as his own kin and involving him in the business he had built.
Roman became a contract killer, working his way up the ranks and becoming the older man’s right-hand man. The two went as far as to take on a particularly grueling contract, assassinating a dangerous politician. This success took them two steps back, though, as Roman became the target of a rival group of assassins. One man nearly killed Roman, and it was while working to save Roman’s life that the man who raised him, Alexey, had learned that Roman was his grandson. When Roman came around, the two discussed the news and while Roman was furious with denial, he slowly came around and accepted this truth, establishing a close bond with Alexey and temporarily residing with him in between contracts.
