BACKGROUND.

Scarlett was the first born twin alongside her brother, Jose, in the Benimaclet district of Valencia, Spain. Not quite in the city center, and not alongside the port district (Poblats Maritims), her and her family lived a fairly normal life amidst the beautiful historic buildings and scenic coast. When her and Jose were 7, Violeta would be born. A year later came Viviana. It wasn't until Scarlett and Jose were in their late teens that Gonzalo came, and he would very much be the baby of the family. As such, much of Scarlett's later teen years would be spent stepping up to help care for Violeta and Viviana, while also balancing the increasingly challenging workload of her schooling and upcoming graduation. When the time finally came, Scarlett decided to go to trade school instead of college. This choice didn't come out of left field, however, as her father and grandfather had an old automotive business that closed upon the old man's passing.

While it had been over a decade since the shop was around, Scarlett could still remember all the days she'd found herself shadowing the duo during their work. So, she would go on to specialize as an Automotive Technician, and would eventually open her own shop upon the completion of her program. To honor her family, she would name it Romero-Águila Mecánica Primario.

Due to the heavy flow of tourism within the region, Scarlett's shop would see a good amount of business, with the summer season bringing in record-profits as loaner vehicles and imports alike would come and go with some issue or another. Dealing with imports allowed Scarlett to pick up many new skills and techniques, many of which would come in handy in altering her workflow to become more efficient during the off-season. It also helped her recognize where customers were coming from just based on the parts she'd seen under the hood. Unfortunately for her, this would be part of her downfall.

At the tail end of a summer rush, some peculiar clients came in urging for a quick repair. They also were very adamant that she would not touch the vehicle without their supervision, which she initially wasn't adverse to as she carried a lot of passion and was always happy to encourage folk to take up a trade skill. What made her cagey was actually the lack of engagement and conversation, as it felt less like a repair and more like a bomb defusing. And, if the shifting panel under her hands was anything to go by, it very well could have been. She wouldn't know for sure, however, for as soon as the panel began to lift and expose the space behind it, a strong pair of hands grabbed at her hair and bashed her head against the vehicle's exterior, knocking her out cold.

Scarlett awoke hours later in a dazed panic, unable to move as she found herself tied and bound in some warehouse. The men from the shop were all there, and all of their attention was on her. The ringleader of the group would get in her space and explain that her alleged curiosity made her a witness to a very crucial arms smuggling operation. As such, she would have two options for how she wanted this incident to be resolved:

Die, or give up her former life and pay her debts running guns.

Regrettably, Scarlett would take the latter deal, agreeing to become a gun runner for Euro Firearms and put her technical expertise to use. On top of gun running, she would maintain the group's vehicles and help develop better concealment methods to work around the increasingly tedious border security checkpoints. Her skill would gain her notoriety, and over the span of a decade, she would establish a rather cushy network of connections in the criminal underworld. One such connection would inspire her to branch out and delve into the world of document forgery, noting that her attention to detail could be put to use there. She and this connection would co-establish the website "Passports R Us," which specializes in the forgery of passport documentation. When the other owner was caught and burned by local authorities, she would take the site down and re-open it several years later as the investigation grew cold.

Scarlett's proven loyalty would earn her some grace with the organizers of Euro Firearms, as she would eventually be allowed to re-open her shop and resume daily operations in tandem to allowing her employers to use the business as a front for transportation and smuggling. Likewise, she'd give a cut of the profit from Passports R Us to her employers, as well as discounted rates and emergency approvals for other gun runners.
