Willie’s primary source of income is fencing, the selling of stolen goods. He opts to pickpocket the rich and those touring Saint Denis, then will sell the goods he collects at a marked-up price.
At some point in his adventures in Lemoyne, Willie came across some caravan wreckage on the side of the road. Likely the work of the Lemoyne Raiders, Willie investigated to see if there were any survivors (or anything worth taking). Instead, he found a Border Collie named Rudy. Rudy followed Willie all the way back to Saint Denis, and Willie ended up taking him under his wing.
During the events of Chapter 4, Willie is in the Saint Denis graveyard visiting his father’s grave when John and Arthur are sent to retrieve things for Angelo Bronte. He gets caught in the crossfire and stumbles across the duo, immediately recognizing them as “Dutch’s Boys”. Not wanting to risk being outed to the law by the only witness of the shootout that occurred, the men drag Willie back with them. It is from this point that he becomes a floating member of the gang, not quite a member but rather a connection. He will often frequent the camp to give his share of the money, but also to get to know some of the other members and prove his worth to them.
William was born and raised in Saint Denis, his father being a factory worker and his mother being an aspiring author who had moved to the city from Annesburg. His mother died during childbirth, leaving him to be raised by his father when he was able to be home. Willie was on his own from early on, however, as the ever-growing demand for industry often meant his father was not home.
At around age 10, Willie’s father died in a factory incident and Willie, being unable to pay for the home they had at the time, was thrown to the street. During his time on the streets, Willie learned quickly how to make a living. He began his career in thievery, often stealing from market stalls, before graduating to breaking-and-entering and pick pocketing.
Willie can often be found in Saint Denis conning tourists and the wealthy elite, however one may also find him traveling about the countryside as he will often flee the city with more valued goods to avoid the suspicions of the law while reselling.
