FALLOUT 4 MODS
This list currently includes console mods! For this list, I provide my list in load order, meaning that things should (hopefully) work as intended. You can install the mods in any order (on console), but will have to manually rearrange them to make them work properly and with as little conflict as possible.
(CONSOLE)
This is my personal load order for Fallout 4 on the Xbox One! Provided is the mod title, as well as a brief summary of what the mod is/does, written by yours truly.
Some important patch notes are as follows:
- I removed AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended due to the fact the mods have a documented history of causing bloat, particularly on long-term saves. This seems to be hit and miss with the community, but running on an older console I noticed a significant improvement in stability upon utilizing alternative mods.
- I've seen similar discussions had around the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch [UFO4P] due given Arthmoor's history. Unfortunately, the mod is quite an important framework for many mods and there really isn't an alternative to it. As such, I've opted to include it in my LO. It is up to you whether you include it or not, but be warned that if you don't, most of my LO here will not work.
- If you're a casual gamer like me, you're going to want to put your game difficulty into VERY EASY or EASY. The changes brought on by the various gameplay overhauls, especially Immersive Gameplay 5, will make the game a LOT harder. I personally enjoy the challenge, and having to approach fights like I would in games like Ghost Recon, but I know that's not everybody's cup of tea.
Mods (Show/Hide)
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch [UFO4P] | A master mod for bug fixing and increased mod support. This mod is practically the baseline for your modding experience, as many (if not all) will require it. |
---|---|
Sim Settlements [XB1] | Overhauls the existing settlement system and allows settlers to build their own homes, shops, farms, and more! Makes settlements feel more lively and less player-reliant. |
Conquest - Build New Settlements and Camping [XB1] | Introduces a camping and dynamic settlement building mechanic that allows the player to rest while on the road or expand their campsite into a fledgling settlement. The names of the settlements are based on the last names of several Quality Assurance engineers that worked on Fallout 4 for Bethesda. |
[SMM] Settlement Menu Manager [XB1] | Overhauls the Settlement Menu and allows for expansions to the framework by other mods. |
Equipment and Crafting Overhaul (ECO) - Redux - ALL DLC Merged | An extensive, lightweight framework that expans on the equipment and crafting system. This is the most popular alternative to AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended. |
Immersive Gameplay 5 (XBOX) | Completely overhauls the game by changing almost every mechanic in terms of damage, survivability, and more. To quote the mod author, "The gameplay is faster, more punishing, less predictable and most important... More immersive." |
In-game Third Person Camera Config (XB1) | Adds holotapes to allow the use of custom third-person cameras and animatons. This is needed for the following few mods. |
Immersive Animation Framework | I use the Urbanranger88 port. This mod provides the framework for, and introduces, mechanics for immersive animations. This mod in particular adds animations for ingestibles such as food, drinks, and chems, as well as variants of each animation. |
Immersive Face Animations REMADE - IFAR - Serious Version (XB1) | Alters facial animations for the player character and NPCS to be more expressive, but less dramatic than the original version of the mod. |
Experienced Third Person Animations - All In One | Introduces several third-person animations that add a bit of realism. Includes animations for assault rifles, pistols, rocket launchers, snipers, and shotguns. |
Running with Hands Animations | XB1 | Lets the player see their arms when they run in first person. |
Sit - AnyWhere Redux | Allows the player to... sit anywhere through the use of a mod menu and custom animations. |
Realistic Ragdoll Force | Makes ragdoll effects more realistic by creating a "slumping" effect, opposed to a forceful blowback. |
Realistic Death Physics - No Animation [XB1] | Decreases the amount of force with melee and ranged attacks to more realistic levels. Dead bodies will not ragdoll rather than launching into space. |
Automatically Lower Weapons | Makes it so the player lowers their weapon automatically when not in combat after 3 seconds of idling. |
Player Responds to Pain by EngineGaming (Extended Version | Increases the player response frequency to pain from 3% to 100%, because losing function of one's limbs or getting severely injured hurts. A lot. |
The Boring Perk Overhaul - By Electohead1 | Reworks many peprks to create a less powerful, more realistically scaled experience through the reduction of damage resistances and more. |
Cheat Terminal [Xbox One] | Introduces a cheat menu through a holotape. Adds many... many cheats, such as God Mode, Infinite Carry Weight, One Shot Kills, and other gameplay and environment manipulations. |
Locksmith - Lock Your Doors 'n' Containers! [XB1] | Introduces a mechanic that allows the player to lock doors and containers by pressing a button. This mechanic was, AFAIK, introduced in Fallout 76, so it operates much like that if you've played the game. |
Boston - Less Enemies | Decreases the NPC spawnrate in Boston in order to fix the infamous freezes/crashes that happen in Boston's various districts. |
Dead Financial District | Kills most of the enemies in the Financial District to improve game performance. |
CROSS Crit Gore-verhaul | Overrides the default Fire, Laser, Alien, and Plasma critical effects to create a more over-the-top, but realistic, death for various enemies. |
Dismemberment Overhaul - Dead Space Style | Makes it possible to dismember enemies of various backgrounds without killing them, much like you can with ghouls. This version of the mod makes everything die from a headshot, but there's a version where this change isn't implemented as well. |
Sleep Intimate XB1 | Introduces an immersive sleeping mechanic as well as intimate sleep interactions with romanced companions. For those not looking for companion intimacy, it can be disabled in the mod settings holotape! |
Simple Everyone's Best Friend | An alternate version of the famous "Everyone's Best Friend" mod that makes it more compatible with the UFO4P and the anniversary update. For those unfamiliar with either mod, the mod reintegrates the old framework of being able to have multiple companions (1 human, 1 non-human). |
Follower Revive System [XB1] | Makes it so the player can enter a bleedout state similar to how companions do. This mod lets followers try to revive the player with (or without, depending on your settings) Stimpaks. |
Show Accurate Codsworth | Replaces the eyes on Mr. Handy/Gutsy/Nanny models to have the glowing ring-style eyes showcased in the Fallout Amazon Prime TV series. |
FemShepping's Re-EnGaged | Alters Gage's appearance to create a cleaner, edgier appearance for the Nuka World raider. Also adds a casual outfit variant that both he and the male!Sole Survivor can wear. |
Femshepping's Redone MacCready | Alters MacCready's appearance to appear a little more fitting to his character/more closely to his concept art for the game, while keeping his canonical age in mind. |
Settler and Companion Dialogue Overhaul by Thuggysmurf (Updated) | Gives variety to companion and settler dialog so that they react to the world around them and the various things that happen, instead of recycling the same dialogs over and over again. |
[XB1] Valentine Jaw Sync | Adds motion to Nick Valentine's jaw so that it moves when he talks, instead of remaining static while the rest of his face moves. |
Faded Glory - A Post-Apocalyptic Soundscape | Adds 4+ hours of custom composed music to tell a truly dystopian story of loss, struggle, and hope. Includes the addition of region-specific Wasteland exploration tracks. |
Realistic Sound XB1 | Makes sounds feel more "punchy" by adding additional reverberation effects to allow things such as gunfire and explosions to bounce off the environment (as it would in real life). |
[Automatron] More Bot Voices for Xbox | Adds variations for Protectron, Mr. Gutsy, and Mr. Handy voices. |
Reneer's Radio Mod [XB1] | Allows the player to change the radio stations on any in-game radio... including on robots, who can act as radios if desired. |
No More Cash Register Sound When Xp Gain By Liquid Bronze | As the title says; removes that cash register sound when gaining XP since it can be annoying/personally annoys me. |
NAT - Natural Atmospheric Commonwealth (+DLC Patches) | Completely revamps almost every aesthetic portion of the game, including lighting mechanics, weathers, and much... much more. This mod is definitely a must if you're looking for a good overhaul of the game to make it feel more up-to-date. |
Vivid Fallout (Landscape + Rocks) | I personally only download these textures, opposed to the AIO mod. Pretty self-explanatory, but enhances and replaces the textures for landscapes and rocks. |
WET - Water Enhancement Textures by SparrowPrince | Enhances all bodies of water and their tethered effects, such as adding new motions and foam effects. |
[XB1] Vivid Waters (Vanilla) - a Water overaul for Fallout 4 | Alters groundwater textures and settings to make them look much more realistic. This mod is great to pair with WET, as the former alters splash, dripping, and puddle textures. |
Spitfire (Enhanced Muzzle FX) | Overhauls the effects produced from muzzle attachments, making weapon modifications and types feel that much more lively. |
Enhanced Blood Textures (1K) | Replaces the blood textures in the game with high-resolution textures and spatters. Features of the mod include increased blood amounts, new types of splattesr, and more. |
Grasslands - A Fallout 4 Grass Overhaul - Unhealthy Edition | Overhauls the landscape and makes the Commonwealth far more lush. This variant of the mod makes everything look more dead, similar to the vanilla game environment. |
Realistic Low Health | Makes the low health screen and sound effects much more terrifying by desaturating the environment and adding blood swooshing in the ears. |
No More Screen Blur When Hit | Removes the ugly screen blur visual when you take any sort of damage. |
[Dn-0] Darker Nights (Level 0 - Darkest) + DLC Patches | Makes the nights in the Commonwealth darker to varying degrees. I personally enjoy the darkest setting, which makes the nights 94% darker compared to vanilla. |
[XB1] Settlement Electricity Overhaul Revamped | Revitalizes the settlement electricity system through the inclusion of wireless workshop objects, adding new types of generators, allowing longer power lines, etc etc. |
Restoring The Castle [XB1] | Adds a new look for the Minutemen HQ post-reclamation. The visual changes are implemented with a quest that activates after completing the Old Guns quest with Ronnie Shaw. |
(XB1) Pre-Walled Settlements | Adds walls around several settlements such as Red Rocket, Starlight Drive-in, Nordhagen Beach, and more. |
Rickety Restored Sanctuary Bridge [XB1] | Fixes the Sanctuary bridge that fits with the rundown environment. |
Goodfellow's Glorified Goodneighbor | Changes Goodneighbor's exterior and interior to make the settlement feel more lively. Thhis includes adding defenses to the exterior, moving the State house, adding warm lighting, and more. |
Goodfellow's Crown Jewel- Diamond City Overhaul | Revamps Diamond City to add detail, NPCs, enhanced lighting, and brand new areas. Makes the city really feel like the crown jewel everyone makes it out to be. |
HUDFramework [XB1] | A UI framework that allows the HUD to be modified in any capacity. |
Immersive HUD (iHUD) [XB1] | Provides a customizeable HUD where you can get the immersion of not having one, while not outright getting rid of it. To quote the motto: "HUD when you need; HIDE when you don't." |
[XB1] [English] Full Dialogue Interface (NewDialog English translation/port) | Gets rid of the "emotional" Bethesda dialog wheel (or their failed attempt at mirroring ones like those in Dragon Age and Mass Effect) with a clear, concise dialog branch. |
LOOKUP FAILED - Full Dialogue Interface and Creation Club Fix | Patches the glitch that causes the Vault suit and variants to be unnamed when using the Full Dialogue Interface mod. |
Face Texture Glitch A | Stops a bug where switching facial presets with custom textures/mods causes brownface on the character. Becuase that happens... for some reason. |
Presets That May Be Handsome-Xbox One | Replaces presets 12-15 with new presets. |
The Eyes Of Beauty Fallout Edition - XB1 | Takes a mod originally made for Skyrim and adds many new eye textures to the game, some natural and some unnatural. |
Immersive Mouth And Teeth | Alters the textures of human mouths and teeth to be a little less blotchy/more realistic. |
HeadCanon Tattoos | Adds over 70 face and neck tattoos from several different mods, such as Misfit Ink Tattoos, Wasteland Scratchers, Kind of Cool Face Tattoos, CyberTattoo2287, and more. |
[XB1] Hair Tones Redux - A Hair Color Overhaul | Alters vanilla hair colors, and the hair dyes from Nuka World, to be more realistic while still maintaining their vibrancy. |
Nuka Hair Combos [XB1] | Adds several hair mashups for men and women, and adds additional beard mashups. |
MoreHairStyles4Males Pack by Parhamlinker | Adds several vanilla hair mashups for men. |
Glowing Animals Emit Light - ALL DLC | Attaches a light source to every glowing animal variant to make them actually glow. Radius and brightness is determined by the size of the animal. For some reason, molerats are the only animals that do not work. |
Synths Revamped 1K by Fuse00 | Adds new 1k face/body/eyes/mouth textures for non-disguised synths to make them appear a little more robotic and sleek in design. |
Re8 - Med Injector | Replaces the vanilla Stimpak model and injection sound with the Med Injectors from Resident Evil 8. |
Classic Computers - by Strider5 | Replaces some of the terminals to look more like the desktop computers in Fallout 2. |
Fireflies | Recycles a radiation visual effect to spawn in fireflies during nighttime. |
Improved Map with Visible Roads | Alters the Pip-Boy map to be readable by altering the color palette and highlighting roadways and paths. |
Pip-Boy Flashlight by NoraJune | I use the standard version of this mod, but there are brighter variants! This changes the default Pip-Boy light into a more realistic flashlight, since there's no light bar on the actual apparatus to create that intense, all-rounder glow. |
Pipboy Flashlight Sounds - Metro Version | Replaces the default sounds with those from Metro 2033. |
Wasteland Fashion - Clothing for Vanilla Bodies | Adds a few lore-friendly clothing options for both male and female characters. Most outfits have a western or otherwise wastelander theme. |
K-9 Harness - Tactical Body Armor and Backpack for Dogmeat [XBOX] | As the title says! Allows the player to craft custom body armor and backpacks for Dogmeat, making sure that the doggy stays safe in the Wasteland. |
Robo Leg Outfits | Adds 10 new outfits with a prosthetic "Robo Leg". Includes vault suits and faction uniforms. Not a necessary mod, but one I enjoy having as my SoSu canonically lost a leg during the invasion of Anchorage and it's amazing to finally be able to represent him. |
[XB1] Craftable Pride Flags | Adds a bunch of pride flags to the game as wall decorations and pole flags. The mod authors have updated the mod over the years to include so many diverse flags, including some lesser-known labels and a Blåhaj flag. |
Commonwealth Military Gear (1k) | Adds basic US military gear to use with under armors. There isn't a whole lot to this one beyond a vest, helmet, and some small gear pieces. |
[XB1] Thematic and Practical by 5Like (+Nuka World) | Ports by CrayonKit. Adds a bunch of lore-friendly structures, furniture, and decor such as cinderblock benches, junk beds, and more! |
MagNite - Functional Flashlight | Adds a customizeable flashlight that works both as a light source and a weapon. The flashlight can be found as random loot in the world and on enemies, as well as purchased from certain vendors. |
Better Settlers Xbox | Heavily diversifies the settlers to the vanilla selections (raising the total from 30 to 190) by altering stats, equipment, and appearance. |
Top Surgery Scars | Adds top surgery scars to the male sole survivor! Not an essential mod, but one I like to include since my SoSu, Shepard, is a trans man. |
