Fallout Mods

FALLOUT MODS

This list includes both PC Mods (re: links to my preferred guides) and console mods! For the fuller lists, especially those on console, I provide my list in load order, meaning that things should (hopefully) work as intended. You can install the mods in any order (on console), but will have to manually rearrange them to make them work properly and with as little conflict as possible.

FALLOUT 4 (CONSOLE)

*DISCLAIMERS: THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED FOR THE APRIL 2024 UPDATE! PLEASE USE WITH CAUTION. Just because these lists/load orders work for me (most of the time, anyway), doesn't mean they will work for you. Please make sure to read mod descriptions prior to installing, as there may be information about updates/compatibility!

I only play on Xbox, and I know Playstation has policies regarding mods that create new meshes/items. Many of these mods are NOT AVAILABLE across both platforms.

Plus, people who play on the latest model of the consoles may have a more stable experience. I, as of current, am playing on the Xbox One S, which is usually considered on the lower end of performance. I take what I can get, and I'm used to things not quite working right / lagging. This list is merely meant to serve as a baseline for your experience.

Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch [UFO4P] A master mod for bug fixing and increased mod support. This mod is practically the baseline for your modding experience, as many (if not all) will require it.
NAT - Natural & Atmospheric Commonwealth A weather, lighting, and visual overhaul with a load of customizeable presets, as well as tools to create your own.
AWKCR - All DLC Version A master file mod that allows other modders to create and modify armor, adjust the appropriate crafting menu categories, and modify the workbenches for armor, weapons, and clothing.
Workshop Framework A master file mod that allows other modders to open up the settlement/workshop system, as well as stabilize the workshop as a whole for players who enjoy settlement building.
Settlement Electricity Overhaul Works to make running electricity in your settlements clean and wireless by adding a fusebox with seemingly unlimited power and an unlimited radius.
[SMM] Settlement Menu Manager Allows for modders to add custom menus within the settlement system, and makes it easier to uninstall these mods without breaking your build menu.
Armorsmith Extended Full Expands on the existing clothing/armor system, allowing for the layering of different pieces (e.g., hats and bandanas), modification of standard clothing, completely revamps the modificaiton system as a whole, and much, much more.
Boston - Less Enemies Mitigates the notorious overload on the game's engine (due to the way Bostom was programmed) by reducing the NPC spawns around various locations within Boston.
[XB1] [English] Full Dialog Interface Replaces the "mood" responses with a fuller interface mimicking that of older titles, such as Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Allows you to see what your character is actually going to say.
Settler and Companion Dialogue Overhaul Gives a new life to the Fallout 4 world by reducing the repetitive companion dialogues, adding situation-appropriate dialogues, giving the option to instantly retrieve side quests from designated companions, and more.
Face Texture Glitch A Fixes a glitch with preset replacements and general appearance mods, where navigating backwards through the presets (e.g., going from preset 4 to preset 3) will change your character's skin tone on just their face.
Presets that May Be Handsome Replaces several male character presets (notably, presets 12-15) with customized alternate presets that don't take away from that rugged wasteland charm.
Sanctuary Road Plus Modifies the appearance of Sanctuary post-intro sequence, including modifications to the entry bridge, adding multiple new buildings/building lots, creating a small diner toward the center of town, and much more, ultimately giving it that true suburbanite feel.
Cheat Terminal [Xbox One] Adds a holotape cheat menu that lets you manipulate and modify the game in various ways, including adding items to your inventory, saving and accessing non-marked coordinates, altering quest progression/fixing bugged questlines, and more.
Enhanced Blood Textures Basic Revamps the way blood works, including adding more realistic splatters and spirts, increasing the amount based on type of wound, adding pools and trails, and making robotic/synthetic characters bleed oil.
[XB1]Realistic Ragdoll Force Reduces the physics on ragdoll animations, making for a more realistic approach where enemies will slump down where they stand, opposed to flying 50 feet back from a single handgun round.
Realistic Death Physics - No Animations Similarly to above, adjusts the physics to reduce that cartoon-ish impact that often happens during death animations.
DAVETHEDRUNK PRESENTS DAVE'S POSES Adds over 300 new poses and idle animations for those looking to tell a story through their screenshots. Poses and animations are toggled via in-game objects (a ring and gun).
Take A Knee - 3rd Person Stealth Based Animations Adjusts the 3rd Person stealth idles and animations for pistols and assault rifles, taking a more modern approach to the style.
Everyone's Best Friend (Dogmeat + Companion At Same Time) Adjusts the companion code so that you can have other named companions and Dogmeat following at the same time, more closely mimicking the older rule of "one human; one non-human" (that said, Dogmeat and Strong will get along as well in this mod, so no worries there).
Green in the Commonwealth Adds a variety of fauna back to the Commonwealth, giving it that true post-apocalyptic vibe. Over 200 years, dozens of settlements, and the trees are still barren? As if.
Goodfellow's Glorified Goodneighbor Revamps Goodneighbor's interiors and exteriors to turn it into a truly bustling, active community.
Restoring the Castle Adds a questline to revamp and reinforce the Castle after taking it back for the Minutemen.
Realistic Sound XB1 Adjusts in-game sounds to add more reverberation and depth to the Commonwealth. Echoes will bounce off objects, explosives will feel more powerful, and much more.
Natural & Atmospheric Commonwealth - Far Harbor Adds support to NAC for the Far Harbor DLC.
K-9 Harness - Tactical Body Armor and Backpack for Dogmeat Gives Dogmeat some armor! There are a variety of armors with different colors and faction-appearances, as well as modifications that increase Dogmeat's damage resistance and carry weight.
Natural & Atmospheric Commonwealth - Nuka World Adds support to NAC for the Nuka World DLC.
HUDFramework Allows modders to make adjustments to the game's HUD system, allowing for the usage of customization/optimization mods.
Immersive HUD (iHUD) Spawns a customizeable holotape that allows for the complete customization of the game's HUD, with the goal of hiding elements when not needed and showing them when they are.
Place Anywhere Removes some constraints from the workshop system, allowing in-depth customization when placing objects. Allows for world item manipulation, scaling, and so on.
[XB1] Craftable Pride Flags Adds the ability to craft static and animated pride flags of various varieties, both for wall decoration and for flag posts. The flags are all found under the same menu in the building menu.
CROSS Crit Gore-verhaul Revamps the default fire, laser, and plasma critical effects to create a more gruesome reality. Those hit by these weapons will no longer turn into a brightly-colored pile, but instead a burnt/vaporized mess. There is also a holotape allowing for some customization.
Faded Glory - A Post-Apocalyptic Soundscape Customizes and revamps the soundtrack of Fallout 4, including nearly 4 hours of music that is region-specific, time specific, faction-specific, and works to tell story of loss, struggle, and hope.
Spitfire (Enhanced Muzzle FX) Overhauls the muzzle effects on various weapons, providing unique flashes, smoke, sparks, and more.
Pip-Boy Flashlight (Brighter) Turns the default Pip-Boy light into a focused flashlight beam, helping make the usage of it more immersive and atmospheric.
Pipboy Flashlight Sounds - Metro Version Replaces the traditional light toggle sound with an effect from the Metro Saga.
WET - Water Enhancement Textures by SparrowPrince Enhances all water and (most) water-related effects in the Commonwealth to be more realistic and immersive.
Nuka Hair Combos Adds various hairstyles to both male and female characters, as well as 17 unique beard mashups and various new colors.
Non-Angsty Sounding MacCready (Deeper Voice) Adjusts MacCready's voice to be deeper.
The Eyes of Beauty Fallout Edition Changes eye textures to be more high resolution, as well as adds a plethora of new textures and colors for all types of unique characters.
FemShepping's Re-EnGaged Makes simple edits to Porter Gage (Nuka World), including recolors to his default armor and creating a casual version for the Sole Survivor to wear.
Wasteland Fashion - Bandanas and Blindfolds Adds stand-alone bandanas and blindfolds as craftable objects, and utilizes the AWKCR Workbench to allow for layering fashion.
MoreHairStyles4Males Pack by Parhamlinker Adds vanilla hairstyle mashups for the male Sole Survivor.
Synths Revamped 1K by Fuse00 Revitalizes the synths of Fallout 4 by adding new face/body/eye/mouth textures, and giving those without skin a more mechanical, polished look. Don't worry, Nick still has that gritty charm of his, too.
Automatically Lower Weapons Adjusts animations so that if a weapon is equipped during dialog, the Sole Survivor will no longer hold everyone at gunpoint and instead lower the weapon to a reasonable level.
MacCready's Military Makeover Adjusts MacCready's outfit to give a more realistic/lore-accurate military appearance.
Diamond City Outskirts (The Hole REDUX) Expands Diamond City's outskirts/interior sections of the wall to make the "Great Green Jewel" feel that much more lively. Adds new traders, storage areas, and much much more.
The Boring Perk Overhaul Rebalances the perk system to create a more challenging playthrough experience. This mod removes damage increase bonuses, reduces critical hit damage perks, increases the effects of staggering and damaged limbs, and much, much more.
Classic Computers - by Strider5 Replaces the default appearance of desktop terminals with a more "retro" appearance, inspired by the desktop computers in Fallout 2. There are also workshop objects that you can build to use.
Improved Map with Visible Roads Creates a high-contrast world map with detailed roads, topography elements, and enhanced water/coastlines.
No Build Limit - No DLC Removes the build limit from base-game settlement systems. Opted for this version because I don't really use DLC settlements, but there should be alternate versions that do affect them.
Campsite (XBOX) - Simple Wasteland Camping (and HD Sleeping Bags) Adds camping functionality to the game through craftable/carryable tents, sleeping bags, dog beds, fires, lanterns, and more. Also includes a GPS Beacon which allows for fast travel to your campsites.
[Dn-0] Darker Nights (Level 0 - Darkest) Adjusts the lighting so that nights in the Commonwealth are actually dark, and may require the use of a flashlight. This version in particular makes the nights 94% darker compared to the vanilla nights, and there are other variations of this mod that impact the game less.
Vivid Fallout - All in One Revitalizes Fallout 4 by improving the game's textures, with a heavy focus on the landscape. Ironically, these textures are also less V-Ram heavy than the base ones.
[XB1] Top Surgery Scars Adds top surgery scars to the Sole Survivor's male model by default.
